Scotmid Continues to Support Team Jak Foundation

A charity set up in memory of a West Lothian teenager has been boosted with a donation of vouchers from Scotmid Co-operative for families, who are coping with cancer.

The Team Jak Foundation, formed in memory of West Calder High School pupil Jak Trueman, who tragically passed away in February 2015, supports children and young people with cancer, their families and those, who have suffered bereavement.

With many families spending overnight stays alongside their children at Sick Kids hospital in Edinburgh, Scotmid have donated £750 worth of vouchers, so that families can pick up food and toiletries from the two local stores situated at Warrender Park and Marchmont.

Team Jak Foundation’s Chief Executive Allison Barr said: “Team Jak are delighted to have the continued support of Scotmid and the use of the vouchers are helping newly diagnosed families from Ward 2 Haematology Oncology in Sick Kids Edinburgh to buy essentials.

“With the Scotmid store along the road, it just eases the burden a little for parents to have these vouchers to go and buy necessities and not be away for long while their child is undergoing treatment. We are hugely grateful for Scotmid’s ongoing support.”
