The Scotmid store in Bankton, Prestonpans, which was relaunched in July, has picked up two awards at a UK industry event in London last night (Thursday 14 March).
At the Convenience Retail Awards ceremony in London, the Scotmid store in Hawthorn Road won both the Energy Efficiency Award and were also named Food to Go Retailer of the Year.
Scotmid Co-operative President Harry Cairney, who is Prestonpans born and raised, said: “Huge congratulations to all the staff at our Bankton store and everybody involved in the success.
“As both President and a Prestonpans resident, seeing our store receive this recognition is absolutely phenomenal and well deserved – it has been a real team effort.
“The innovative changes that were made to the store in the summer, both in terms of our overall energy efficiency and our Food to Go range, were progressive and it is great that has been rewarded by the panel.”
